    Description

1968 Lincoln Continental Coupe.  This car is low and mean and gets a lot of attention wherever I drive it.  It is hard to go to the gas station without having to talk about it with someone.
What I know about it's origin is that the original owner lived in Nebraska.  The car lived there and died there and sat there for many years.  Then, some dude from New York found it, brought it to New York and resurrected it with a fairly intensive restoration.   A couple years later he sold it to me and I had it trucked from New York to Montana.  I have had the car for about 5 years, and it has been approximately 8 years and 6-8K miles since its restoration in which the engine and drivetrain were rebuilt, the body was completely restored and painted, and suspension was converted to an air ride suspension with 2 compressors and a 5 gallon tank.  The car is a really beautiful dark green which happens to be the original color that this car came matched with a shiny black top which was likely a vinyl top originally.  The 2 door coupe is less often seen than its suicide door brethren because there were fewer made.  I really love the 2 door coupe though.  These doors are something like 50" long.   I drive the car occasionally in the summertime here and keep it garaged all the time, but I have too many cars and not enough room so I am thinning the herd.  It is powered by the original 460 ford big block that it came with.  It has an extremely throaty rumble through it's 2" flowmaster exhaust, but if you wish to be really obnoxious, it has electric header dump valves that makes it rattle windows. 18" wheels.  Tires are in good shape.  This car is a really mean, cool lowrider.  It is also a 53 year old car that is about 8 years and 8000 miles after a complete restoration.  It has some scratches in the paint.  There is a single rust spot that I am aware of the size of a dime at the bottom left of the rear window (pictured).  It is not perfect.  Since you are interested in lincolns then you know that perfect lincolns are listed at -100k.  The 2 biggest problems with this car are: the airbags leak.  The 2 in the rear will hold air for a week or so, but the front bleeds off in a matter of hours.  I suspect that the fittings are at fault although I've never investigated.  The other issue is that there is a slow leak from the rear differential.  It has been that way since I bought it.  I have put gear oil in the differential a few times, but it was never really too low.  Neither of these things make it a problem to drive the car, so I haven't ever fixed them.  The sound system won't win any contests but if you know how to tune a headunit it bumps reasonably well.  Green LED lights under the dashboard and in the rear side lights make it glow green at night if you want.  Headliner is in perfect condition.  The fuel gauge, voltmeter, and temp gauge all function perfectly.  The spedometer works but reads fast.  It is a factory A/C car, and the original R12 compressor is there, but the system isn't charged and the belt isn't connected.  It has been converted to an electronic ignition and a pertronix coil.  It has a 7 switch suspension controller.  This car is ready to roll as is, but if someone were inclined to have a showroom quality lincoln, then this car wouldn't require too much work.
