    Description

6 Antique English Georgian Heavy Sterling Silver Elk Stag Crest Salt Cellars
Presented is an antique set of 6 English sterling silver salt cellars made by William Eaton of London in 1824. This 19th century, Georgian set is done in a classical Portland Vase style and each 2 handled bowl is raised on a pedestal base. The inside of each bowl has its original gold wash and the front of each cellar has a hand engraved crest of a stag or elk. Each piece is a heavy weight for its size.
The underside of each piece is marked with the leopard's head for London, the lion passant for sterling silver, a date letter i for the year 1824, a duty mark of the king's head and a maker's mark for William Eaton.
This set is in excellent overall condition, especially considering age. There are some very tiny pin-point dings here and there but no major damages and no repairs.
Each salt cellar measures 3 1/2 inches in diameter and is 2 1/4 inches tall.
Total weight: 1,108 grams or 2.4 pounds.
