    his exquisite salt cellar, a authentic
    Art Nouveau
    period piece in the Daisies pattern, bears the French
    “Minerve* Premier Titre
    ” hallmark, indicating the highest quality of French sterling silver (950/1000), used in Paris since 1838. The
    Minerve Premier Titre
    is the guarantee that the sterling is at least 95% silver. The interior is lightly gold washed (
    vermeil
    ). This salt cellar is stamped with the hallmark of
    Eugène Castel
    , master silversmith in Paris, between 1903 and 1910. The liner, which by its weight would appear to be crystal, has a star design crafted on the bottom and the upper edge is shaped to harmoniously follow the undulant
    Art Nouveau
    shape of the cellar. This piece is in very good condition with the exception of a slight crack on the side as well as a small dent and some corrosion from salt due to normal use and age. Please refer to the detailed photos on this page.

    The maker’s mark consists of the letters “E” and “C” surrounding the image of a daisy.
