    Description

Antique salt cellars or finger bowls
These unusual silvery twin bowls are believed to be either salt cellars (no spoons) or finger bowls probably from the late 1800s. Well-weighted to remain stable on the table top, they are crafted from so called
    German silver
    , also known as
nickel silver, which was used extensively in ornamental silverware for centuries
. They appear to be cast, and then open-worked into a pleasing half-flower pattern cut-outs around the rim. Unbranded, they are in very good condition with some very slight scratches commensurate with their age.

Check out my other listings. I have several antique silver and crystal items that I believe were brought over from Europe by our family in the late 1800s.
