    Description

You are bidding on a glossy b/w framed brown matted (10-1/2" x 12-1/2") photograph (6-1/2" x 8-1/2")  taken by Louis HELD (1851-1927) with 11 students of LISZT with students signatures below students. Photo taken at Weimar celebrating Liszt's 73rd birthday. (1884)
The handwriting under each student is different so it is hard to know if these are genuine signatures.
The first man in front row is Saul Liebling whose signature is in left bottom corner and appears to be authentic as handwriting is different from the other signatures.  All other signatures are at bottom of photograph. Some appear to be "numbered."
FRONT ROW from left to right:
Saul Liebling, Alexander Siloti (holding a Liszt score),  Arthur Friedheim, Emil von Sauer, Alfred Reisenauer, Alexander W. Gottschalg.
BACK ROW from left to right:
Moritz Rosenthal, Viktoria Drewing, Mele Paramanoff, Franz Liszt, Friedheim's mother, Hugo Mansfeld (last person standing in back row with "DANTE" Symphony (1856) score.
The signatures may be authentic; the same photo appears in a LISZT book by Ernst Burger.
I have compared hand writing of signatures and wonder if they indeed could be in Liszt's hand.
"The photo came from an auction in VA. The owner was a musicologist. It is a vintage copy of the photo on file at the Library of Congress."
