Description
Up for bid is a pair of vintage Mexican sterling silver salt cellars with spoons by Maciel. The salts are 1 1/2 inches in diameter by 7/8 inches tall, and the spoons are 2 1/8 inches long. The whole lot weighs 47 grams. The salts have a fluted form with applied flared feet. The spoons have round bowls, thin wire stems and triangular handles. The pieces are not monogrammed. The salts are both marked "MACIEL / 0.925 / HECHO EN MEXICO D.F." with a “PM” in a chalice mark and an eagle “14” assay mark. The spoons are marked with the eagle “14” and “SILVER / MEXICO / 0.925”.
Condition on the salts is fair. One interior is blackened as shown, and there
are other spots as well. The spoon
handles are a bit wavy. A nice
set!
