This hard-to-find medal shows St Walburga dressed in her nun's robes. She's holding a lamp representing knowledge and a pitcher.
St Walburga was born in Devonshire, England, in 710. She was educated and cared for by nuns while her father, St Richard, and her brothers went on pilgrimage to the holy land. Eventually her uncle, St Boniface, sent for her to help hi spread Christianity in Germany. On the way there her prayers miraculously calmed storms while her ship was crossing the English Channel. While in Germany she wrote the biography of St Winibald, making her the first female author of England and Germany. After the death of St Boniface, St Walburga ran both an abby for women and a monastery for men. She died in 777..
The medal was cast in sterling silver from an antique medal in the Rosa Mystica Collection so it shows all the beauty and history of the original piece. It comes with a matching holy card in an organza gift bag, ready for gift-giving, and was made in the USA.
